Rhetoric and how it helps

Rhetorical reading is ”seeks to understand how meaning in a text is shaped not only by the text itself, but also the context.” according to google, but in simpler terms rhetorical reading is to beyond just trying to figure out what the ”authors purpose” is, it is the breakdown of every piece of text and context in a reading and taking those findings, then making those into a simpler piece easier to understand. Reading rhetorically gives you any information you need to find in a text due to how much the text is being broken down. As a reader and writer rhetorical reading calls for critical thinking, enabling readers to see potential biases and understand the text on a deeper level. Almost like peering into the authors thoughts and decisions. Rhetoric encourages readers to ask questions such as why the author wrote the text, who they are trying to reach, and what techniques they use to persuade. This method deepens the understanding of how arguments are formed or constructed such as the readings of ”Shitty First Drafts” and a direct response opposing that text titled ”Rethinking Shitty first Drafts”. Rhetoric was needed to break down the first text and why it was opposed by another author. This led to the further understanding literacies.
