Although revision can be annoying at times there are many benefits to taking advantage of this step. One being allowing you to grow and expand your knowledge as a writer. While revising you constantly are looking at others work to help your own. By doing this you can gain knowledge of how to better your skills and ways to incorporate them into your writing. A misconception about revising is that you should only be focusing on the grammar. Many believe that without grammar mistakes revision isn’t a thing at all. This statement though couldn’t be further from the truth. What you should really be focusing on is the audience, how you’re writing, and the purpose of it. With the audience you have to make sure what you’re writing is appropriate for the intended reader. The way you’re writing should have consistency from beginning to end. Lastly, if while revising you notice you go off topic or added “fluff” take it out. Considering all these aspects while revising it will allow you to write in the best way. Overall revision isn’t just an annoying step that many people consider to be a waste of time. It ultimately can make a huge change in the type of writer you are.
