In the two Student to Student readings, both Yeakel and Cedervall make great points. They share the main point that it is okay to make mistakes and improve anything to the best version, whether it’s you or your work. In Cedervalls writing, she explains that life is a constant process of revision. When you put it into that perspective, it makes revising seem more comfortable. Knowing that we are constantly reworking our lives, whether it’s our schedule, appearance, or habits. She perfectly shows that revision is normal in life so therefore, normal for our work. In Yeakels reading, “Failure is Awesome”, she has similar points, but relates it to different experiences. For example, parallel parking. When starting to drive, we know that the hardest thing to do on the test is to parallel park, and that it usually gets people to fail. When practicing that parking, we do it over and over until we’re comfortable. And if we fail the test, we practice again until the retake, and we don’t just give up. It brings us to the main goal of achieving something. Using both of their readings in that perspective makes it a lot easier to revise our work. Putting it into our daily lives and normalizing it brings us to the comfortability of revision and not being so scared of it.
