I am passionate about writing, I believe writing is important, I believe writing has helped me on a personal level, and I have confidence in my own writing. Unfortunately being passionate about writing often means criticism of your writing stings that much more. Personally there was nothing like opening a document in middle school or high school and seeing that your teacher left 20+ comments. What I failed to realize at the time, and what I am thankful I can realize now is that these comments were not made to tell me how awful my writing was, they were trying to help me improve, and it was often the case that the comments were complimentary rather than critical.
people often see revision as a failure, and people view failure as a bad thing. The issue with this is that this hurts people when they have to make revisions. No one’s writing is perfect, especially not the first time, so the process of making revisions is inevitable and that should not be looked at as something to be ashamed of. In much the same way, the idea of failure is often seen as something you cannot and should not accept, but most failures are fine, they are learning experiences, the same as any other and act as a catalysts for someone to become better and improve.
