Genres are an idea, a concept, an imagination. Anyone can come up with a genre no matter what it is, food, games, coloring books, etc. People make genres everyday. But what exactly is it? well, its a category. You go to read a book and you notice how it has a specific topic or central idea about what the story is? yeah, they chose that genre for the book because they figured people would like, people who are interested in that type of genre that is. Genres are what bring people together. It kind of ties to what Christian silva, Maxwell kizewski, and Alexa klein stated in their article. “since genre fluctuates with the discourse community, shaping them and itself, it is possible for genres to change. Genres are flexible, so a minor detail may be added or taken out.” A genre never stays the same, again anyone can create a genre. One minor change can make a big difference. This is why there are lexis, it helps when you can communicate with those who are interested in the same genre because then it gives you a clear certainty of a particular group of people. stated in their article also, “from a fundamental perspective, the goal of lexis is to help further conversation. The greatest endeavor that needs to be pursued prior to selecting what lexis to use is identifying the group in which you are talking to.” It may seem difficult at first but with the right amount of communication and a specific genre, you’ll find the right group of people.
