How fostering a sense of belonging can be beneficial

The concept of speaking as authority can be a direct result of belonging . Speaking as an authority is when you are open to other things and baseing things on past experiences. When you feel like you belong you in turn would feel more comfortable in speaking in general but also in sharing your own experiences.

Fostering a sense of belonging starts in environments like classrooms. In classrooms students are often told to speak as an authority and connect ideas based on past life experiences and lessons. But students are told to do this while being held to certain grammatical standards. This can lead to a feeling of exclusion among students who struggle with grammar. They may not feel welcome to share their ideas due to constantly being corrected or even made fun of.

But if we allow students to share their ideas and speak without hyper focusing on the grammar if all give them that sense of belonging. They will feel as though that their ideas are just as accepted as their peers. This sense of belonging will contribute to their skill of speaking as an authority and it will help them in multiple fields such as conferences, writings and even conversations with friends.
