Utilizing the CARS model for academic writing

There are many functions for a portfolio and cover letter. Within those functions are the aspects that make academic writing what it is. The first being an introduction and that is done by presenting information in an appropriate way, so the audience understands it. For academic papers the tone of the author is supposed to let the reader know the importance of what they are writing. The purpose of the introduction is for the readers to know what they are reading. Utilizing John Swales CARS model is a perfect way to grab the reader’s attention. As someone who has utilized this guide it has helped me create meaningful and engaging introductions to my papers. The first move out of three in this model is to establish a territory and this is done by claiming importance, making topic generalizations, and/or reviewing items of previous research. The second move is establishing a niche or problem. The steps to establishing this are counterclaiming, indicating a gap, question-raising, and continuing a tradition. Lastly the third and final move is occupying the niche and finding the solution to it. By outlining purposes, announcing present research, announcing principal findings, and indicating article structure this could be found. Making use of John Swales CARS model could improve your academic writing in many ways.
