Improving writing and revision process

When I write essays I start off with an outline. This typically consists of the paragraphs listed in a bullet point format with the information needed listed in sub bullet points. But I feel that this method can get overwhelming and I focus more on making sure each paragraph has a certain amount of information. Creating an outline makes me lose sense of my purpose and who I am writing the essay for. I typically don’t notice this until after I write the paper. By then revising the paper and searching for where I messed up can be extremely overwhelming. So this letter method seems very useful. I like how the purpose is stated directly along with the methods you intend to use. I think this allows you to clearly think out your paper before you sit down to write it. It also makes revising easier because you won’t get lost in all the writing you have already done. Addressing who the audience of your text is also would allow you to decide. what arguments or. explanations would be best for this particular group. It would also work very well for peer reviews. As it gives others a clear idea of what you wanted to do and they can point out where/how you failed to do that easier.
