Making revisions to your writing can be challenging, but it’s normal for it to feel that way, as Jillian Grauman says. When getting your writing reviewed, you usually get feedback. It’s expected to revise your work based on the comments made, but it isn’t always easy to do. Although it’s common to get criticized on your work, it’s also common to not fully understand what to do next. Grauman goes over the three main reasons as to why receiving feed back and revising your writing can be challenging. These reasons are 1. seeing your writing ability as an unchangeable trait 2. deciphering your feedback and 3. deciding whether you should or should not use the recommended actions to change your writing. These are all valid reasons and can pretty much apply to anyone in college, or even high school. Confidently giving in an assignment and seeing an unexpected grade on it with feedback can play games with your mind. Thinking that your work was on par with the assignment given and getting an opposite grade can feel so hard, and trying to revise it is even harder. Despite the fact that this could be challenging, feedback and revising is all there to make your work your best work. Being able to take this in and fix anything with your writing is a learned skill, and it’s to make sure you’re submitting the best version of the assignment you can do.
