The purpose of a rhetoric piece is to persuade, inform, engage, and at times even motivate or inspire. Rhetoric gives readers the ability to see a topic from a possibly different perspective with evidence to back up the writers claim. When reading a rhetoric piece, we can form our own opinions or maybe change the way we think about a certain subject. We can analyze the reading and find out why the writer feels that way, which leaves the readers thinking, and keeps them more engaged in the piece, thus wanting to continue reading even more, and finding more reason. Rhetoric texts also tend to be more organized; this can lead to discovering a deeper meaning and getting a better grasp of the text itself. Reading this way helps us form an understanding of differences in opinions, views, and values; this also helps when needing to communicate our own ideas in a purposeful and persuasive way. Though we may not always agree with what is being said in the writing, we can create some sort of respect for the writer for having factual evidence that clearly supports their claim or main idea, while also keeping the readers intrigued and more educated on the matter.
