Does Rhetoric help your reading?

Rhetoric helps us read by giving us a better understanding on what the author of a writing is thinking. You can get the grasp of the authors point and what they are trying to do with rhetoric. If you are reading an article about a certain shoe and the author quotes basketball player LeBron James praising the shoe and saying how good, it is then you can see the author is using Ethos to pursue the reader to go and buy the shoes. If you can identify the rhetoric tools writers use in their work, then they will be much more easier to learn and analyze. Learning Rhetoric can just make you a better reader and writer overall. Being able to analyze a text much better is a necessary skill in order to become a better writer. Reading with a rhetorical way of thinking can open up and clear up a writing and make you interoperate the reading in another way. However, this doesn’t always mean that reading with Rhetoric way of thinking can always work on any type of reading. I see rhetoric as a tool you can use to break down and understand a text better than just reading it normally.
