Both Dila and Lamott have different strategies and ideas to go about writing a passage. They seem to agree on that some writings are not perfect the first go. However, they seem to disagree on how to go about writing a passage. Lamott believes that we should write a bad drafts to get one’s ideas out then go about writing the final copy. On the contrary, Dila believes to write as if it is your final copy and then revise it and edit it as you go. This brings my question: Is there a correct writing process that guarantees a good paper or is it really up to the author? Personally, I go straight into a writing after reading the prompt and if editing is needed then I will do if after I complete everything. In that case I kind of agree with Dila’s claim, that writing bad drafts are unnecessary. I believe that everyone has their own way around writing and if it works for them then that is what they should stick. A writer’s writing process is just as unique has their personality, there is not a specific way that guaranties a good writing. It is good to understand your own writing process so you can capitalize on everything you do when writing.
