What is revision exactly? revision is what helps us to see a fresh perspective of something, the process of rethinking your paper. Having to revise can seem a bit overwhelming when you have no idea what to change but that’s why it gives you time to think. I use revision sometimes, when I look over a paper that I wrote and all of a sudden I think to myself “maybe I should have wrote this instead” or “this would’ve sounded better if I put it this way”. Revising helped me be able to recognize certain things in my writing that could change and be better than what I already have written down. The process of it is easy when you understand how it works, you’re basically giving feedback to your own paper. Revision comes in three steps: revising, editing, and proofreading. My process of this is like an escalator, one minute my ideas are flowing up and I’m doing great but then I lose track and my ideas start to go down to the point where I get stuck in thought just like a broken escalator. Until I figure out what it is I can do to make my paper sound better and more literate. Before you revise you need to understand how your process works, what ideas would you want to put down and save the other ideas for when you proofread or editing. Revision is needed to improve. You can’t expect to have a good paper if you don’t go through it and fix whatever it is on your paper that doesn’t do what it needs to do.
