Revision in writing is what helps uncover and complete the best efforts of our work. I love the revision process because it is satisfying in the sense of cleaning up my work and adding or taking away parts to make my writing the best it can be. Sometimes the revision process can take a while, but the benefits that come with it are worth it. Many think that revision is only about fixing grammar or little sentences, but it is much more than that. It consists of taking away unnecessary sentences, or adding more information and detail in your writing, even going so much as adding more paragraphs and making the writing piece longer. It is always best to have someone else look over your work and give you feedback so that you can take their feedback and put it into context. The feedback we get from others allows mistakes to be caught, that you may have not noticed yourself, or even have new ideas be brought up that would help enhance your writing piece. Same thing when reviewing someone else’s work, but you always make sure that the criticism is constructive and will genuinely help someone with their writing. Revision is a key part of the writing process, and if overlooked, you might be missing some crucial components in your final draft of your writing.
