In my opinion, writing is used to express or share ideas, tell a story, or even just have a conversation with people. My relationship with writing is simple, but not too complex. I think I am a decent writer and can simply understand and comprehend any writing task that is given to me, although sometimes I find myself repeating phrases in different ways to just fill space in my writing. I find it slightly easier to write research papers because I am pulling information from the web, but also it can be challenging because I don’t want it to sound like I am copying the author’s thoughts. I have mostly written essays in high school, specifically LEQ’s and DBQ’s in my AP classes. I feel like those writing exams have helped me to be a faster writer and able to express my thoughts in a timely manner, since both essays I was required to write in a certain amount of time. However, I don’t think that they have necessarily helped me to become a stronger writer because they didn’t teach much. They just taught me the strict writing format of what AP requires. I am trying to strive to be a more complex and detailed writer, and put more effort and thought into any writing piece. Some of my strengths when writing would be that I can be detailed with my writing and be thorough, but I am looking to be better because most of my writing can be seen as simple. My goal is to become a deeper writer and be able to find a better relationship with words and expression.
